How do you implement Multiple Subtitle Language Menu ?
Using VS 10+
Is there a way to have Subtitles for different languages that are selectable from a menu?
My project needs to be able to select subtitles for 4 different languages.
While we're at it, is there a way to create a menu to select different sound tracks for different languages?

To do both of these, you could use DVD Workshop (now obsolescent).

DVD Workshop 2 is still available for sale - you are running XP and so it will work without problems.
If you move to Vista then I have found that it works but you might have problems with some projects Dependant upon the material used.
Corel will not be developing DVD Workshop so what is available now is what you get, there will be no further patches or updates.

Thanks for listening, guys.
DVD Workshop is pricey for something that's going end of life, yet it's a LOT less expensive than the other authoring software having the same capabilities.
There is an much less expensive upgrade path to DVD Workshop if you have certain older versions of Movie Factory and VS.
I don't know why that is.
Of course, I have older versions of Movie Factory and VS, but none of them are in the upgrade path.

I hate to look outside of Corel/uLead, because I'm used to the way they do things, and their software all plays together so well.

Warning: DVD Workshop Express is unsuitable for the OP wanting 4 s-t and 4 audio tracks. If I remember correctly, it is limited to 2 of each. Only the full version can allow more.

I need subtitles for English, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and Russian.
Looks like Express won't do it, unless I create four different DVDs with English and one of the other languages on each DVD.
As awful as that sounds, it's a $100 solution as opposed to a $300 one.
And while spending money any for a product going end-of-life is probably not a good investment, at least there is a less expensive solution alternative.
If I use the Express solution, I will only need one VS-generated MPEG image, and four DVD Workshop projects, so the disk space consumption won't be too bad.
It's beginning to look like the DVD Workshop Express solution might work for me.
Does anybody know if DVD Workshop Express can recognize chapter markers left by VS10?

DVD WS Express supports DL. Hmmm ...
Thanks, Ken.
I'm sure the chapter mechanism in WS is plenty good enough.
I see that it supports Dual Layer.
That means I only need two disks instead of 4, as I can put two titles on the DL disk.
The DL disk can have an English-Portuguese title and Spanish-Italian title, and the SL disk can have one English-Russian title.

I think you may find that chapter transfer MAY work. Worth trying, anyway. Certainly, if I mark chapters in MSP, WS2 recognises them, but I haven't tried it in VS.

There are less expensive solutions to do what you want -- but they won't have the user-friendly interface hat DVDWS2 offers.WestbrookNH wrote:I need subtitles for English, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and Russian.

I agree -- DVDWS2 should be able to detect the chapter marks embedded by VS10Devil wrote:I think you may find that chapter transfer MAY work. Worth trying, anyway. Certainly, if I mark chapters in MSP, WS2 recognises them, but I haven't tried it in VS.
