AVCHD and version 11 doesn't work?

Post by malter@ci.flagstaff.az.us »

hello, yes another newbie. Am looking for an editor for my new sony AVCHD camcorder so I downloaded and am trying to use version 11+ with very little success. It will capture small clips, but crashes when I try to import multiple, small clips totally about 1/2 hour. Sometimes will play clip but most of the time all I hear is the sound with a black screen (with some color rainbows). Clipping will not respond at all. Tried sample and it works fine. Didn't burn a disk, but rendering seems to work, No matter what compression I use in the "gear", total video time is about 1/2 hour! (for 2 minutes of video). Crashes often. Slow, functions don't work. I also tried to import an avi file from another source and it would not render, says something about failure to initiate module.
Running MS Vista, quad-core 2.66 Ghz, 4MB RAM, GT-8600 graphics and 1 TB HD. So I don't think system can be problem (unless its that darn Vista thing!).
Any thoughts on getting this to work? Heard good things about your product and like the interface. Seems there are problems with the AVCHD and maybe Vista from all software companies. Maybe I just need to file away the data until software catches up? BTW, this is a brand new sony model, just came out and has better specs than last year's....could this be the problem?
thanx!

Just a thought but I'm not sure using your email address as your forum name is a particularly good idea.
You are inviting unwanted spam type emails.

Apart from endorsing the views just expressed about using your (apparent) email address as a user name, have you thought about downloading and installing the 6 November 2007 update patch, and the 8 November 'Hot Pack' (which upgrades to VS11.5+)? Both are available under the Download button on the Ulead.com wesbite. And both were brought out largely (though not exclusively) to deal with avchd editing problems.

do updates work with trial version?

Post by malter@ci.flagstaff.az.us »

Thanx for the info, and apparently I had a brain-failure. Tying to install the hot fix adn instructions a little confusing...appears you have to unistall and reintall after removal-run process? Anyway, get an error message about registation messed-up, or something like that. Then, just for kicks, decided to try power pack. It said I have to be registered, which I am, but refused to reconize me! I did read all the posts about these updates. Someone said doesn't work with trial version. Apparently, I did not indicate that I was using the trial version (whoops). Is this correct? and if so, where does that leave me with your product?
thanx again for your help...

You are correct, none of the updates/hotfixes/hotpacks or cold compresses work with the trial and again, yes, you probably should have included that little snippet of info!

Secondly, and lets be real clear here, it is not "our product! No-one from Corel is on this board and to my knowledge no-one from Corel regularly visits. We are all just users like your self trying to help each other.

As far as the program goes, about your only option is to pay for the full version, really work out the update sequence and try it. If it doesn't work then there is a 30 day money back guarantee.

As someone just investigating this software, I appreciate all your help. Its too bad I can't really try this first. We'll just see what happens. I'll end this thread.

Thanx again for your help!
