Hi,
I am half way through editing a large project and would like to move it all onto a different disk drive. This is partly due to disk space issues and partly because I have started to experience performance issues (jerky playback). I am running VideoStudio on a laptop with an encrypted drive and think this is asking too much so am thinking of switching to an external unencrypted drive in order to resolve the problems.
My question is: is it possible/easy to transfer a project over to a new location?
Thanks a lot!

I assume that you mean that you want to move a project AND ALL it's associated clips.
To move a project (file) is EASY - just copy the project file to another location. You will need to OPEN PROJECT and navigate to the new folder where it is located - VS will automatically link all the associated clips.
If you want to move all the associated clips then move all the files then use OPEN PROJECT and navigate to the location where the project file is located.
NOW comes the fun part. VideoStudio will not be able to locate the related clips as it will search the original location and find nothing. VS will display a warning that the first clip cannot be located and ask you do you want to locate it or delete it. Select LOCATE and then navigate to file in it's new location and select it. Hopefully (I say hopefully as I do not know what version of VS you are running and I'm not sure if later what later versions do) VS will then automatically use the location of the first clip (which you selected) to locate all the other clips (of the same type ie video or audio which were originally in the same folder).
If you are unlucky then you will need to use the method above for EVERY clips in the project. Once all clips have been located VS will display a message that all clips have been located. You should then SAVE the project - maybe SAVE AS a different name to preserve the original just in case.

Moving location of a project
Thanks, I will try that when I get a new drive. Am running VS10 SE. Hopefully it will find all the clips in one go, as there are rather a lot of them!
Cheers

I also run VS10+ and if I remember correctly that if you move clips and then navigate to the (new) location of the first clip (when loading an existing project) then VS will automatically link to all the other clips in that folder.
Please also remember that VS will not be able to locate the clips in an existing library (which have been moved). When you select such a clip (which has been moved) VS will once again tell you that it cannot locate it and ask do you want to link to another clip. Use the SAME method as previously explained.
