I am using VS11plus.
I import mt2s (AVCHD) files into the timeline to start creating my project.
Unfortunatly this gets more difficult the more I do ....Now I'm sorry I should try to explain a bit better...
as I edit the clip and insert transitions ect the performance deteriorates so much so that it becomes almost impossible to continue.
If I only do a small project say 20 mins it not to bad but i usually try to create up to an hour of video.
It seems as though the computer is just not "up to it" so to speak.
It should be fine though and is indeed fine with ordinary MPEG files.
I have tried dissabling everything at "start up" (msconfig) to see if it improves but it makes no difference
I use the "Enable Proxy" function
My computer spect are
Gigabyte MB GA-P 35-DQ6
Intel Quad core E6700
2GB corsair RAM
Does anyone else have these difficulties does anyone know the solution ?

I don't know, have a look around the forums. By the number of posts you should be somewhat familiar with etech6355's posts.

Interesting: Cinema Craft Encoders only $1,950. However Read This..
MHO: Even though you have a fairly new, somewhat well endowed PC setup, you're forcing a lot more data to be dealt with. Example take an older paper shredder. It can only shred maybe 1 or 3 sheets at time. A new 30 sheet shredder can shred 3 sheets and hardly be working. Stick 20-30 sheets in and it slows way down. With your setup you can probably render out SD videos fairly fast, but now that you're using the high def stuff, it's not so fast...

Hi,
I just edited a 7 min AVCHD video. When I first dropped the clip on the timeline, it was slow and choppy when trying to play it in preview. However, I looked at the proxy Manager and could see a timebar showing that it had not all rendered yet. The proxy manager needs to downsize the AVCHD into something that is more manageable.
After about 10 minutes of rendering, the preview worked perfectly and I was able to edit the work just like SD video. So it may just be that you need to wait a bit.....

Yes, it seems that of all video formats, AVCHD must be just about the most demanding of computer resources. Quijote's computer is powerful enough for most video editing. But even a P4 3.0 GHz is not powerful enough to simply play back AVCHD unassisted. You need a minimum of a Core2Duo or Quad processor for that.

The secret is to convert all AVCHD clips to Cineform .avi intermediate files... except... unfortunately... the newest Cineform codec is not stable after application of the Corel Blu-ray Power Pack update.
I can't get Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus with Power Pack to be stable on my computer as long as the Cineform codec is present.
So I now do all of my AVCHD editing on my Mac and I no longer use the Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus application as it's just too unstable here.
