Audio overlap solution

Post by ddyszel »

Hi, I wanted to share this problem and solution. I was authoring a DVD made up of a 15sec. copyright clip to play first and two programs, each about an hour and 2 minutes long. there is a main menu and each program has it's own menu.

I put them in order on the VS10+ time line, added three chapters each. No motion menus, custom background and music. The navigation transistions were set to go back to menu after each play. (I would love to go back to top menu, but haven't figured out how...yet)

I set the encoding preference to Good so it would fit on a DVD. I created both an ISO file and a disc.

I did this seven times each on two differeent machines and came up with the same problem on the initial disc and the discs made from the ISO file:

When the first program ended, 3.5 seconds of audio from the second program (or it could be form the beginning of the same program, since both beginnings are identical) came in over the last 3.5 seconds of the first program. I could not find any settings that fixed this problem.

The only solution was to add 3.5 seconds of black and silence on the beginning of each program and then create the DVD. Not an elegent solution, but at least it works.

I'm a bit disappointed in VS10+ because of this and am not apt to upgrade to VS11+

That being said, I am looking for a DVD authoring program that allows me to add a user selectable commentary track. does anyone know if DVD Maker or any other program allows this?
