Too much Video and no Audio recorded on DVD

Post by kstupka »

I am a newbie using Version 11+ .

I have made my project that includes video, title and an audio clip that I inserted from those supplied with the software. When I play my project back, everything works fine. I then saved my project and made the video file. However, when I burn the DVD, several things go wrong. First, I have parts of the original video that I clipped out, second, none of the audio is recorded.

What is going wrong????

TIA

While we definitely need more info, my suspicion is that, though you have made a new video file of your project, you are not using that in the burning module, but instead are inserting your project file (*.vsp) for burning...

If you have your project in the timeline and it seems to be the way you want it, you make your video file (Share > Create Video File > DVD). Note where it is going to be stored on the computer (normally the VS working folder). Then you save your project file, and open a new project (File > New). Don't worry about a name -- the objective is merely to clear the timeline so that it is completely empty. (I suspect this may be where your trouble flows from.)

You can then use a software DVD player program to play back the new mpeg-2 to make sure it is exactly the way your wanted it.

Then you select Share > Create Disc > DVD. The burning timeline should also be completely empty. (If you don't follow the above steps and your project is still in the editing timeline, the project file automatically appears in the burning timeline. This is NOT what you should have.)

Anyway, with an empty burning timeline, you navigate to where your new mpeg-2 file is stored and manually insert that in the burning timeline. Then you click on the middle of the three icons in the bottom left of the burning screen and ensure 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked. Proceed to build your menus and burn...

Ken,
Thanks for your response. I did not clear the time line but after creating the Video file from the SHARE menu, I went to SHARE and burned the DVD. I will try this again when I get home and post my results.

Thanks.

PS
I just updated my profile that contains as much of the system info that I could gather at this time.

Ken,
I followed your instructions and now am at the point of the final review of the Burn Disc step. My audio now plays but the movie clip plays then replays many times. This is not what my file did when I saved it as a video file? I only want 1 instance of the movie. What am I doing wrong?
