Sound problem with VS9

I recently "upgraded" to Windows Vista and am now experiencing some sound issues with Video Studio 9. When I select a clip and press play, there are no problems and all of the sound is fine. However, when I select the project and try to play it, I get the following error:

Failed to use DirectShow video engine. Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding.
[13102:2:4]

Again, I don't have problems when I select and play individual clips. Can anybody help?

VS9 is not Vista compatible. The only previous version to work with Vista is v10 (with a patch). Version 11 was designed for Vista.
