VS9 basic help needed

Post by Micki »

I'm trying to put all the video I have of my Grandson onto DVD for his 21st. I don't want anything special, just a dvd for him.
I have made several video's with titles.

My problem is..
Can I join several video's into one & how.
What PAL format do I need to make an ordinary DVD that will play in a DVD player.
I've been through the help list but everything is a bit above my head.

Help would be appreciated as I've been trying to do this for several days with no luck!!

Miki,

To Join video clips you need to create a new video file. This of course is done in the Share Step.

While working in VS, the video, image, or audio clips, are just thumbnail representations of the actual source clips. This way you can do all sorts of editing without affecting your source clips. So to join 2 or 3 clips in your time line you need to go to Share>Create Video File. VS will then render (create) a video file from your project.

Since you're wanting to produce a PAL DVD, in the Share Step, you would simply select the DVD/VCD/SVCD/MPEG then in the fly-out menu select the PAL DVD 4:3. You can also select towards the bottom of the Share>Create Video File menu, PAL DVD 4:3 Dolby Digital 5.1. Either of these will produce a DVD compatible MPEG-2 video file. The latter will encode the audio in Dolby 5.1 (Surround Sound).
