I went to Vista last July (2007) and haven't even tried interfacing with my camera until now; well, I've learned that there are no SCSI drivers in Vista for my camera and while on the phone today with a very knowledgeable Hitachi rep, I learned that they're not planning on making it compatible.
He also mentioned that when the camera was developed, Ulead was the maker of the video drivers for the camera in Windows and Hitachi wasn't taking any responsibility for ensuring my camera still works with Windows, whatever version I'm using.
I'm a little peeved that I spent over $1000 U.S. dollars on this cutting edge camera that I:
a). can't use and is junk or
b). need to get another computer and load XP on it just for getting my video off the DVD-RAM. I don't even own XP, so would have to buy that as well.
I would like to upgrade to a hybrid DVD/HDD camera but I also wish I had a million dollars. Either way, I'm stuck trying to find a friend with an XP system that I can use for this purpose and eventually shelling out more money.

Does anyone know a work-around to get Vista to recognize my DVD camcorder so I can simply get the video off of it?
Is anyone at Ulead reading these posts and know what I'm talking about? I'd love to get a response from Ulead (Corel) about this.
Thanks & look forward to hearing back from any knowledgeable persons.
