Panasonic PV-GS320 and "Video Class" USB 2.0

Post by KeithC »

Panasonic offer the GS320 with something called "video class" USB 2.0. I have been warned to stick with Firewire for capture with 11.5 Plus from miniDV cameras. My question is, can anyone tell me if this USB Video Class format is a good alternative to firewire.

Note: I tried to make the new Canon ZR930 to work on three different computers with firewire. Canon says may be a bad batch of fire camera ports??? Now I'm gun shy of firewire.

Thank you,
Keith

Video class usb driver will be installed with the Pansonic osftware and will work with that software, so long as your pc is up to the task adn you ensure you have no other services running and in particualr no other usb items connected and working, like ext hdd's.

I'm not sure if 3rd party apps like VS will work with usb 2 video.

I'd use firewire.

I can't see why you are gun shy? One cam which may have a fault but not yet proven?
Over here in the UK some supermarkets had a bad batch of petrol, thank goodness it didn't put me off using it in future..... I'd be walking to every job!!!!!!!
