limited menus, again

Post by cmega »

Hi Ulead/Corel folks. Menus have been discussed a lot in this forum, but I guess I don't understand why Ulead doesn't provide more built-in menu templates? And why they don't come with more than 4 levels of chaptering! I'm evaluating the trial versions of VideoStudio 11 and Nero Ultra 8 deciding which one to buy. Nero has tons of menu templates, and huge flexibility in main and chapter-menu creation. I've found VideoStudio easier to use from an edit/author standpoint, but at the end of the day it comes down to how easy is it for the viewer to navigate, and to some degree give a great first impression when they pop the DVD in for playback.

I'm just curious why it's so difficult to provide nice templates *** with more than 4 chapter items *** without authoring your own?

I downloaded the home-grown 12-thumbnail template that someone graciously posted, but it wouldn't work in studio 11. (The mere presence of the .ufo file prevented ANY menu creation - I had to delete the .ufo in order to access the basic menu templates)

Don't mean to sound harsh - just thinking with a bit more template options my decision would be a no-brainer. Thanks

Almost every aspect of the menus are customizable. What special needs do you have?

Hi -
I have titles with 8-12 chapters and would like to have all 8-12 chapters on a single sub-menu page - not have to page through 1/3, 2/3, 3/3 to access all the chapters.

Thanks - I saw that posting, but I am using the TRIAL version of VS11+ so I can evaluate it before purchase. That post says the extra bonus stuff will not work with the trial version, so I didn't bother getting it.
Is there a way to get the bonus stuff to work with Trial?

And I just noticed those files are huge - 227mb and 300+ mb. Assuming they work with Trial, would I download the BONUS content, or the REGULAR content file to get the extended menu capabilities?

You get many more fully-customizable templates when you purchase the full version.

Thanks - you guys are great.
I looked at that post and see the various menu templates. Some appear to show more than 4 chapters on a page, but I didn't see any with 8-12.

Can you please confirm that, yes, indeed, all of these templates can be configured to support all chapters from a title on a single menu page? Text-only is fine. I don't need smartscreens or image icons.

If I need to purchase this to get these menu templates, I want to be sure they'll do what I need before I plunk down the cash.

Thanks again

Hi again - can you please confirm that "fully-customizable" means I can add any number of chapters to each sub-menu page WITHOUT PURCHASING AND USING A SEPARATE PIECE OF SOFTWARE? I just don't see how this can happen given the functionality of the menu options.
Thanks

Hi cmega

Please read this post

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... =thumbnail

As far as i know there is a 4:3 version ???????????????

VS 9 had a 12 thumbnail menu structure, i don't know why the later versions have been limited.

Hope this Helps
