Thanks. I did find the procedure in the interim, but will not be going that route just for the cloud pen.sjj1805 wrote:How to use BB Code on this forum (Post images etc)John Moran_2 wrote:Tell me how to post a picture on this board and I will follow up and post one(s) already made. The above shows an example of the 'NONE' showing in the Predefined Options drop down box where it should have listed all the different types of cloud pen effects. Also, there are two cloud pen effects missing, Cumulus and Stratus (the latter I didn't realise wasn't in my EP until I looked tonight!)
Today, I received a reply from Corel Technical Staff. I'm not impressed with the answer: Firstly, PhotoImpact is NOT a new program......X3 version is, but only a slight upgrade from 11 and 12. X3 has a few different features from previous versions. At least they now acknowledge there's a problem and it's being looked into by their Engineering Department.....hopefully a fix will be ready soon!
This is the response from Corel to my message sent on 24/02/08 it's taken more than a month for them to reply.....that's not good business practise.
Thank you very much for your e-mail.
Since PhotoImpact X3 is a relatively new program, all issue concerning it are currently being looked into by the engineerning department.
However, due to the complexity of designing a software, it will not be possible to provide immediate solutions to all issues at hand.
Rest assured that all efforts are being exhausted to provide satisfactory solutions to problems bestting the software.
Just keep posted by visiting our website from time to time because updates and/or patches are immediately posted as soon as they are available.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions.
Kind regards,
Jeremy

It may be that it is necessary to install Corel Painter Essentials (bonus software in boxed version) to support the Cloud Pen. While you are at it, Corel Media One (bonus software in boxed version) could be a useful utility also, if you want to see a gallery view of your images that includes UFO thumbs.

John, PhotoImpact X3 is not reliant on any othe program.
I have PainterX so would never need the use of PainterEssentials, and besides it's an old version they've boxed with it.
The omission of presets in the predefined options is an error and Corel have acknowledged that as per my post above. Their technicians are working on it so, we will have to wait and see if they can somehow 'patch' it. Alternatively, we'll have to wait for the next version...... PIX4

Sorry for the misdirection. At first I thought that MediaOne was required to view thumbnails of UFO files in PI X3, but found that the PI browser will also do that. Then it seemed that Painter Essentials might contain the cloud stamps, but that does not seem to be the case either.trueblue wrote:John, PhotoImpact X3 is not reliant on any othe program. . . .
My layered UFO Cloud Stamps seem to work as designed on a (non-Intel) Vista computer, and since I have not yet figured out how to break that usefulness, I cannot offer suggestions on fixing the cloud menu on other machines. I would suspect that it is related to the clouds being a layered Stamp, but in the pen menu?
Beats me. I have had the seemingly bulletproof version of PI 6 for years, but never deliberately bothered with learning the layers and such.
