Cloud Pen

Post by mathman »

Hi all,

I have just purchased X3, and am writing about the Cloud Pen in this thread.

The manual states "In the Predefined options of the Attribute Toolbar, select a cloud type preset for your brush (None, Cumulus, Stratus, Cirrus)".

When I do this, the only option is "None". Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong ?

Thanks and regards,
Andrew

Did you install the extra content? Is yours a downloaded version or a boxed retail one?

Thanks for replying, heinz-oz.
I purchased the download version. Yes I downloaded the xtra content.
BTW, I notice you are in Melbourne, me too. Ashwood here, where are you?

When you get your download link, there should be three links. 1 for the program itself, one for the extra content and one for the bonus programs. You need to download them all and install each and every one separately. First PhotoImpact, then the extra content and finally the bonus programs Painter Essentials, Media One etc. These are not necessary to run the program itself but the extra content is because it installs most of the EasyPalette items, textures and presets.

I'm in the northern suburbs, Mill Park

Thanks again. I did install the "extra content", I re-ran the installer but still no joy as far as the cloud types go.

The cloud types can be accessed through the EasyPalette. This appears to be a bug with the program. They should be in the attributes toolbar, however they are not.

Thanks Ron. Only a partial solution unfortunately - for starters, no "cumulus" type in the Easy Palette.

Seems like the content did not get fully installed.. I have the following Cloud types: Altocumulus, Cirrocumulus, Cirrus, Nimbostratus, Typhoon, Cyclone, Art-1 and Art-2.

Check your email, I packaged the cloud brushes from the EasyPalette.

Yes I have those. Was looking for one called "cumulus".

Don't think there is one. This may be an error in the User Guide, and not so much with the brushes themselves..

I must say they were pretty hasty.

I have also noticed from the Realistic Clouds tutorial at http://www.ulead.com/learning/pi/pix3_03.htm that they referred to an image which was part of the Easy Palette (bottom of the page).

Well it wasn't part of my Easy Palette, but it IS on my hard disk in the samples folder.

OK found it ... not where I expected it would be though. I was looking under the Image node in the Libraries tab.

I raised this topic further down.......

I'm still waiting for a reply from Corel which was sent more than a month ago! It also seems they don't want to answer you about this query about the cloudpen either vidoman!

It's a definite boo boo as the settings for the cloudpen should be in the Predefined Options and also when one clicks on the cloudpen it should automatically go to the cloudpen settings in the Easy Palette and it does not. One has to manually search through the EP to find settings for the cloud pen. This latter action also applies all the brush tools!

The only cloud pen effects I see in my EP are: Altocumulus, Cirrocumulus, Cirrus, Nimbostratus, Typhoon, Cyclone, Art 1 and Art 2
There is NO CUMULUS as Corel state in their HELP section.

When I purchased my PIX3 it stated clearly that I would receive free Support........ the support just isn't there, so they're not honouring the contract we entered in to when purchasing PIX3 which is disappointing. I thought when Corel took over from Ulead there would be an improvement in this area!

I don't know what "works OK" means as far as cloud pens go, but I have a cumulus brush, under None. It works. Retail PI X3 box, no prior version, including trials, on this Vista computer.
