Sorry to make a new topic on this, but I need help. Same problem as some only I don't have vista or anything like that.

Screen shot can be found here.

How many frames do you have there? Looks like a few... you may have too many frames. You could try removing any frames that are the essentially the same image as the one before.

Can't really see that screen shot too well. Kinda small and fuzzy... do I see two frames numbered "2" in there and no 3?

Have you tried closing the color palette box when optimizing? Tried clicking "Preview" tab and skipping the "Optimization?"

Completing your system information may be helpful, too.

I tried another one with just 8 frames and I get the same error.

Sorry for the fuzzy screen, I didn't know photobucket shrinked it.

Also the Color Palette box comes up when I optimize, if I try to click on the Preview tab then I get the error, "Generating the HTML code failed. Unable to finish..."

Intel Q6600 quad core

Hmmm...

Is Windows' Data Execution Prevention turned on for all programs?

Right-click your MyComputer icon and select Properties. Go to the Advanced tab. Under Performance, click the Settings button, and on the box that pops up, the Data Execution Prevention tab. What's it set for?

It was set to just essential windows programs, I set it to all programs except the ones I select and still no luck.

Also if I just preview I get a "Generating HTML code failed."

I'm pretty much at a loss here. About all I can think of, based on what info I have, is to try running GA 5 in another compatibility mode...

Right-click the shortcut to GA 5, select Properties. Try setting the compatibility to Win 2000.

My only thought is the quad-core chip? The only time I've seen that error is when optimizing a massively big animation.

Can you optimize any other animations, or is the problem limited to this file?

I have tried with a small 8 frame GIF that was already made and no luck. I also just tried opening a JPeg image and still it would not optimize.

I changed the compatability to Windows 2000 and now when I try to open an image it just crashes on me.

I will try to install on another system I have without the quad core and see if it works.

I hope the other system likes it! I'm rather curious as to the cause of that issue...

Keep us updated!
