Recorded clips jerks & Incredible slow Menu-Generation

Post by Michael_Mann »

Hi,

I have bought the upgrade version of Video Sudio 11.5+ (former Version was VS9).
I have a Pentium IV CPU (Hyperthreading, 2,6 GHz, 1 GByte RAM, fast and empty Harddisks for the recorded clips, during the recording there is no other running tasks like programs, anti-virus-Programs, Messengers and something like that). I'm using a typhoon PCI-TV-Card (Lifeviews 138 ar) with a SAA713x-Chipset. I had adjust windows in such kind which are described in the manual.

The german support is not really interested to help to fix the following issues or give resp. hints.

Now I have the following problems:
1. If I record movies with VS11.5+ the recorded clips have many missing frames so that the clips always jerks (but not the sound).
I had found out that during the recording the load of the CPU is at least 80%. The Sound cames now via the PCI-BUS and not via my sound card (was in the old VS 9 version). Also there is now another Record-PlugIn present (Intervideo and not uleads mpeg-Plugin).
Also I can't adjust the TV-Card like in the old VS9-Version.
The changings of the TV-Card in other PCI-Slots or the changings of the IRQs (my motherboard (ASUS p4p800-e deluxe) is able to assign single IRQs to the resp. PCI-Slot) was not succesfull.
In the Error-LOGs of windows xp (home, sp2, actual patchlevel) this Record Plugin of intervideo generates always Error Message but without any desciption of the reason of the errors.

The source material is okay (Videotapes), other recording solutions works perfect.

Is there a solution to improve the recording of clips?

2. It's really impossible to generate DVD-Menüs, VS 11.5+ becomes very very slowly when I'm generating such Menus.
I'm try to assemble some clips in the format 320x240 or in PAL-VCD-Resolution to a DVD (6 VCDs on 1 DVD-Modus) and I'm using only mpeg1-Clips, generated by VS11.5+. Also the project files are generated by VS11.5+.
The first step of the generation in the DVD-Authoring-Tool works normal. Then I try to generate Sub capitels per capitel, this works also often with the usual performance (like VS9).
But If I return back to the first step to include more clips the authoring tool becomes incredible slowly, it needs up to 20 minutes till the Authoring tool reacts again to include the next clip.
If I stop the program with the taskmanager (there is no other chance to interrupt VS) the taskmanager displays very often a hint that VS11.5+ is still waiting for an input... :?:
If I change to the next step (Preview-pictures of the menu incl. backgounds, design and so on) the Authoring tool works also always very slowly and uses till 20 minutes till a clip with sub capitels is generated.

Is there also a solution known?
Or it's better to sell VS115.+ and buy another Video-Cut-Program from another company which have proofed software and a better support like Ulead/Corel?

Then at least the following question: VS11.5+'s DVD Authoringtool generates always trashy menus per default, with unwished background sounds, animated menus and so on. Three clips with some sub capitels uses up to 3 GByte space for the DVD. Actual it uses hours to correct this. Is there any possibility to change the defaults?

Michael

BTW.: The reason why I had bought VS11.5 plus was simply a big bug in VS 9 if I generate VCD-/DVD-Menus: VS 9 generates in the wild empty folders on all Harddisks and crashes too often in this state. Ulead/Corel will not give any support for this behaviour.
The only solution of the support was: Buy the actual VS-Version...
