Chapters are not created

I am a relatively new user of DVD MovieFactory 3.0 Standard Edition. I have a problem in that I cannot consistently successfully burn DVDs. I use the `Create VCD` option, select DVD, and import one Mpeg2 file average file size 3Gb, which plays fine and is a previously captured home video from a VHS tape. I then check the box to stop any compression. I create upto 5 chapters on a standard Chapter Menu but do not use a Title Menu. I preview and check that all the chapters actually do launch the file at the correct frame. I then go to burn the DVD. All seems well, no error messages appear and the DVD gets burned. I then play the DVD back and test that it works. 50% of the DVDs work fine, but the other 50% do not. The problem is that out of say 5 chapters, the first 1, 2 or 3 are ok but the remaining ones do not launch the video and the DVD hangs. Its as though the programme has just stopped processing during the burning process, but with no error messages. My PC setup is as follows : AMD Athlon 64-3400 (2.4Ghz, 512Kb cache), 512 RAM, 160Gb hard disk with 60GB free disk space. I defrag the hard disk once a month and check Task Manager before burning the DVD to ensure no other applications are running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
