Animation Applet 2 Browser Preview doesn't work

Post by ufan »

I forgot since when. The internal preview works for the applet but the browser preview couldn't work.

But when I upload the finished applet files & folders to my web server, the applet actually works with browser.

Why browser preview wouldn't work?

Java Applets with WinXP

You mean the pages with applets will work when uploading to web server? I definitely will try it. I thought Ulead's applets are to old to support latest IE & J2SE.

To have Ulead Animation.Applet to work you will need to install Microsoft Java Virtual Machine.

Hope this helps.

I bet that the damned product is buggy.

None of the scripts work with the latest versions of Java, IE/Netscape. It only gets to the point that you get the status message "applet ua2playe started" and that's it. The java console gives some more information:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at ***(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.***(Unknown Source)

Great "product" - absolutely useless (at least in my configuration here and I am looking forward to hear from anybody that it works in any configuration....)

Hi,
No - it does not help. I just would like to hear from anybody who has a configuration which allows the animation applets to work. I simply doubt that there is anybody at all...

The applets are supposed to be JAVA applets right? JAVA is being developed by SUN - not by Microsoft. If it works with the MS-JVM, great but STANDARD is NOT MS-JVM but SUN Java.... Maybe the development team at Ulead should take a training class on Java standards?.....

FYI: The "product" does not work with the standard SUN Java but only with the MS-JVM which is poor development and makes this "product" useless. Whoever wants to give it a try - within IE go to TOOLS->INTERNET OPTIONS and enable MICROSOFT VM->Java console enabled. Also make sure that the JAVA (sun)->Use Java... is disabled... In other words: Configure the IE in a way that nobody is using it and you will see the animations in the IE window. If you are using a non-MS product you are not going to get it to work at all...

What browser do you use with Animation.Applet 2?

I just found the update pack of Animation.Applet, maybe you can try it.

Also found some FAQ mentioned in http://www.ulead.com/tech/aa/aa20faq.htm .

To make Animation.Applet to work, I think you can download MS Java VM from http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html because Microsoft does not support to let user download MS Java VM anymore.

Microsoft includes MS Java VM in Windows XP or earlier, but removes it in Windows XP SP1 and SP2. So if your Windows is not upgraded from the original Windows XP and is an fresh install of Windows XP SP1 or SP2, you will not have MS Java VM installed in your Windows XP so Animation.Applet will not work.

I agree Ulead should change Animation.Applet to support Sun Java, maybe you can fill the Tech Support Form to advise Ulead.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
It really does not matter which browser I use - the problem is that the applets only work with Mircrosoft Virtual Machine - not with any SUN Java based environment. This is simply very poor development from Ulead. "Nobody" is using MS Virtual Machine - industry standard is SUN Java and the applets are not compatible to this standard.

I can get the applets to work on my machine - unfortunately that does not help too much for a web site where other users with other (standard...) configuration access these applets.

I also contacted (better: tried to contact) Ulead support. That group is either non-existing, understaffed or not interested in helping their customers. No matter what it is - it is not acceptable. The support request I submitted via their web site returned to my e-mail account because internally they are apparently not capable to send any kind of notification to their own "support team"....

I'm really unhappy that I spent money for these products. I purchased different other products from Ulead in the past and was pretty happy. Seeing their products and non-responsive/existing support today I would never buy a Ulead product again.

Anyhow - Thanks for you help! I really appreciate it.
