Each title (individual clip) will have it's own audio track(s). So, if you use the same sound file for each clip (title), the sound file will start-over with each new title.

If I understand what you are doing, you probably need to use a video editor (i.e. Video Studio) to join the clips together as a single movie/program before you author the DVD with Workshop. (Movie Factory can also do some video editing.)

About the DVD structure...

A DVD is made-up of titles and chapters. A DVD can contain up to 99 titles, and each title can have up to 99 chapters. But, most DVDs have only one title with several chapters. A typical commercial DVD has one title that is the main movie, and another title (or two) with the "extra features".

A menu button can point to the start of a title, or it can point to the start of a particular chapter.

Once you start playing a title, playback will continue through all remaining chapters to the end. So, if you want a menu button that plays only one clip and then returns to the menu, that clip needs to be a title, rather than a chapter. (Pro authoring software can make a DVD that plays a single chapter.)

I suspect OP may mean passing from one menu to another. There is no way of having the music continuous for that.

Music over multiple menus

You are absolutely correct, however I have found a way to fake this, to a point.

I used Audacity to cut multiple pieces of a song and each menu had its own chunk of the song.

Instead of a "next" menu button, you could use a "please wait for next menu" text or an animated .gif to fade in and out saying "loading" for this too. The menu system will not be interactive to the user, but it will allow a song to be played over a series of menus.
