Hi,
I am currently trying out the WinDVD 9 Plus Bluray. I am at the moment trying it out with standard DVD's. I cannot seem to get the trimension stuff or the trimension ALL2HD stuff to work. The buttons are grayed out. Does anyone have any idea what the minimum requirements are to get this to work. Do you actually have to be fully HD compliant to use trimension in WINDVD 9?

Re: Windvd9 and Trimension
I'm having the same issue on Vista SP1. WinDVD8 works properly in this regard (albeit with the 100% CPU issue when closing it)

Using All2HD
The All2HD tab allows you to enhance your video using the Trimension™ All2HD technology. Developed by NXP Software, All2HD is a full software-based solution that guarantees quality high definition playback on your PC.
To HD Enhancement
You can convert standard definition to high-definition without losing picture quality. Advanced conversion technology allows you to convert up to full 1080p.
Digital Natural Motion
A standard computer monitor displays images at a rate of 60 to 100 images per second while film is usually recorded at 24 frames per second. A technique known as 2:3 pulldown converts film to 60 frames per second to be viewed on a computer monitor. This causes motion judder.
With Digital Natural Motion, the motion speed and direction of objects are measured. New fields are then created with corrected motion position. This results in perfectly smooth and judder-free moving images. Viewers enjoy high-speed action scenes that are sharp and motion compensated.
To configure All2HD settings
1 In the All2HD tab, select Enable Trimension All2HD.
2 To compare a video clip with and without applying All2HD, select Demo Mode.
3 In To HD Enhancement, select the video resolution. You can upscale standard DVD resolution to full 1080p. Drag the slider to control sharpness.
4 In Digital Natural Motion, you can set video quality to Cinematic or Best. Select Off to disable this feature.
Note: All2HD is available in the WinDVD 9 Plus version only and is enabled depending on the disc being played.

Windvd9 and Trimension
Thank you for you explanation, but the issue is that the SAME DVD plays with WinDVD8 and Trimension enabled and that I cannot enable Trimension WinDVD9 Plus in the same OS environment (VISTA SP1). There seems to be some other compatibility at work here.

trimension
and
ALL2HD
Are two separate functions. ALL2HD is only available in Version 9 not 8.
Trimension is available in 8 and is a method of frame rate conversion.
This Trimension DNM demo application shows two copies of a film sequence at the same time, the upper one converted by Trimension DNM, the lower one by a default player (e.g. Windows Media player). In the lower part, the motion judder should be clearly visible.
Although the sample sequence contains only a simple horizontal pan, this technology also works on more complex sequences, such as multiple objects moving in random directions. Trimension DNM is a proven technology in the TV domain, and has been used there for a long time.

Just a couple of quick questions, you seem to imply that there is some sort of resolution control from 'standard to full 1080p' is this in fact the case and exactly where is it?sjj1805 wrote:Using All2HD

Also when I use the 'cinematic look' setting I get a strange artefact accross the video image, almost like a line going across the screen or a dropped frame which doesn't happen on the 'Best quality setting', is this a known issue and is there a workaround as I'd like to use this setting?
many thanks in advance
When I use DNM on either Best Quality or Cinematic Look, the video and sound will get out of sync. The video will ultimately LAG behind the sound. This is during playback of regular DVDs.
How do I fix this?
Specs:

2x 8800 GTX in SLI

In Setup / Audio Video Setup tab : make sure "Use Hardware Decode Accelleration" is NOT checked.
