I have a fresh install of Vista 32. I have installed both updates to my Retail version of VS 11.5 Plus. The software works fine for all non-HD formats but I cannot capture or edit .m2ts files from my Sony HDR-SR7. I have tried the capture from the AVCHD folder on the camera, capture from a "burnt" AVCHD DVD that I made and I have tried opening .m2ts files that I have copied from the camera using Sony's Picture Motion Browser. Using the latter, I can view .m2ts files, edit (basic), convert to .mpeg2, etc. I have tried changing the H264VDecHPDll.dll versin to the smaller version and renaming (within the MPEG folder) - but no joy. I can only find one version of that file on my system.
I am now at a complete loss as to what to do next. I am not a computer expert but I really would appreciate some advice. The full text of the crash that I get when ever I try to access a .m2ts file is:
