Project won't play
When I am using video studio 11 my projects won't play. I has always worked fine and then one day it just stops playing projects. It will play clips in edit mode but when I click on project and then hit play it just skips to the end of the project with out playing the project. What is wrong? PLEASE HELP

OK the file format is NTSC DVD
MPEG-2 Video upper field first
24 bit 720 by 480 4:3
Variable rate (max 8300 kbps)
Audio: MPEG audio layer 2 files
48000 Hz 16 bit stereo
layer 2
bit224 kbps
Project info
MPEG files
NTSC drop frame 29.97 fps
24 bits 720 by 480
upper field first
DVD NTSC 4:3
video data rate- variable Max 8300 kbps
Audio 224
MPEG Audio layer 2 files
48000 HZ
I installed a sonic DVD program recently and I don't know if that has anything to do with it but it seems they were at about the same time.
The video projects I am trying are ones I have created in the past and they have always played just fine. Then one day I opened them and tried to play them and they just skip straight to the end without playing. I can play the individual clips in the project but when I try to play the project it skips to the end of the project without playing. PLEASE HELP

yes I removed it and I removed the video studio and reinstalled it and it still does the same thing. If I open a saved file it will not play. I created a new video and as loog as don't save it I can play it, but as soon as I save it it won't play anymore which makes it impossible to create an mpeg file out of a project. PLEASE help

Not sure if I really have a handling for this one but this is how I would be looking at it...at least until someone came on the board with more of a clue.
The difference between playing a clip and playing a project is that VS has to throw the project together on the fly rather than just replay the already prepared contents of a clip.
So, I would go to File / Preferences and check the playback target shown to make sure it is set to preview screen.
I would check I don't have too many proceses running in the background that would interfere with VS performance. I.E. Sucking up RAM.

a couple days ago I did a defragment and I think I have plenty of hard drive. I went to preview in the preferences menu in ulead video studio11 and it says it is using drive c: and there are still 10 GB left. The computer is 1.5 years old and has always worked fine. It has 200 GB memory and 2 GB of ram. It should be fine....I THINK. How much memory/ram should I need? I tried several projects and they will all play the last minute or so but nothing else. If I start anywhere else it just immediately goes to the end of the project. This is driving me nuts. PLEASE HELP
