DVD vs MPEG2
In V9 at the share stage there is the option to save the file as MPEG2 and also an option to save as DVD file. What is the difference? Only thing can see is that the way sound is recorded is different. Which is the best option to use?

I'm sorry but I don't understand what that has to do with my question.

Hi
I thought about that using VS 8
The Mpeg 2 file seems set for pc playback being frame based, the video rate is lower at 6000 and as you say the audio different.
I create my own templates following the standard DVD settings, altering the bitrate to match the length of my movie, and adding the Dolby Audio.
I cannot really see the reason for the different templates especially when you can use customize.
Just confusing !!!!!!!

True, there are better compression formats. But...integron wrote:Perhaps I dont understand progress but when speaking about mpeg codec I prefer using the most compressable format mpeg4 saving the idea of dealing with mpeg 2 (outdated).
One issue with mpeg4 is "compatibility". You will not be able to Author a DVD-Video disc using an mpeg4 video, and not everyone will be able to play it back on their dvd players and/or their computers.
With mpeg2, you can author a dvd-video disc where you have a better chance of others being able to play it properly.
Some DVD Players will play DivX videos burned to a DVD disc, but that's not widespread yet...
