Split by Scene (HDV)?

Post by elai1108 »

Does MSP8 support Split by Scene for HDV?

Thanks in advance.

No it does not. You can split by cotent, but it is very slow. The best way to handle HDV seems to be to get HDVSplit (free program - google for it) to import the files as individual MPG files and then to place all those on the time line.

Be aware as you work with HDV MPG files that when you create your final HDV movie that there is a well documented glitch that accures at many transitions - a pixelation of any moving things for 1 frame. This can sometimes be removed by shortening one of the overlaping/touching segments by one frame. This can also be dealt with by turning smart render off when rendering final copy - but a a slight loss in quality.

There are some other ways to work with HDV in MSP8 - programs that convert the M2T files from the camera to AVI files then editing them, but this takes a program costing several hundred dollars to do it.
