New User Help - Have searched but no luck!

Post by ajwhitehead »

Hi,
As a beginner to VS 11.5, I have a couple of hopefully basic questions I can't find answers to anywhere, so hope someone can help...

- Is it better to render an MPEG first then create dvd, or create a dvd direct from the VSP file?

- I don't seem to be able to save/retrieve my dvd layout. Once I close 'create disc' window (eg. to make a change to VSP), I have to re-format dvd menus, background music, etc, next time to create disc.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums,

The workflow that we recommend is of course to first Create a DVD Compatible MPEG-2. This is not something that is set in stone, or that must be done. It is recommended because it reduces the demand on your PC when you are in the burn module, burning your disc, folders or creating an ISO. DVD compatible MPEG-2 files must be created at one time or another, so instead of adding that to the process during burning, we feel that you would have better success doing it first.

To save your menus in the burn module, after closing you see the Saving your ... prompt. So far no one knows if and where it is saving anything at that time. However before you close VS, select Save or Save as, provide a name and location to save, and then it will save all the menus that you have created in the burn module.

Thanks very much for quick reply.

Am I right in thinking that if I save an MPEG first, I'll need to add my chapters again at the create disc stage, as the MPEG file itself doesn't retain chapter info from the timeline?
