I am consdering buying an HP computer that has an AMD Athlon 64X2 dual-core processor 5600+. Is this processor compatible with Video Studio 11 plus?
Also, are there any issues using Windows Vista with Video Studio 11 Plus?
Thanks

I'm running Video Studio 11+ on Vista 64 bit with no major problems. The first few times I used it I had a couple of minor problems but they seem to have gone away now.
I also visit the Vista 64 forums as they have a few tutorials there to heelp tweak settings that seems to have done the trick.
Other than the fact VS doesn;t utilise Quad Cores fully everything else is good.
As for your AMD. It should be fine but it would be good to know what your other stats are.
I do have the Disc version of VS and I'm not sure if that makes a big difference or not. I prefer having the discs.

I suggest you try out the 30 day free trial of VS11 and check the cpu usage. Other X2 users report values in the 55 - 65% range for encoding DV avi to mpeg2 - what most of us used to use VS for.
The advertising for VS12, due out some time this year, touts improved dual-core and mulit-core utilisation - so you might just want to hold back a while before spending your hard-earned money. After all, us consumers can only influence the programmers by not rewarding mediocre multi-threaded performance!
