using VideoStudio with Canopus products

Post by gary80920 »

Because of hardware issues, I had to remove my ATI 9800 All-in-Wonder card. I have been a long time user of other Ulead products.

I would be curious to hear feedback from other users regarding the Canopus ADVC-50 and 55. I thought about the 100 & 110 but don't need the features.

I do have one question that may be off topic, but I think to use the ADVC, I have to connect it to an ieee-1394 port if it's used in a 5 1/4 bay. Is this also true if I use it in a PCI slot.

Thanks!!

Depends upon which ADVC.

One is a stand alone box that needs a IEEE1394 in the computer, other is a IEEE1394 card and converter.

I don't know about VS, but Ulead Tech Support confirmed about 8 months ago that the 50 model does not work with Ulead MF3. The 100 does though, so beware.

?

The signal is DV in, it shouldn't matter what the NLE.

There is no device control, of course, nor is there any timecode.

There is a timecode, but it's free-running -- it continually goes up. The ADVCs do not respond to device control (though they acknowledge device control commands), so you obviously can't rewind etc.

I have an ADVC-300.

Ah, yes.

I should have said that 'there's no timecode in the *traditional sense*.'

It does run continuously.
