Getting blur line in bottom while video capturing from VCR

Hi there,

I need help, I am using Ulead VideoStudio se DVD, My capturing device is already connected with my computer and its works fine with my dvd player but when i connected my vcr with it everything work perfect with 720x480 frame size but some inches of picture cut off from top and bottom, but when I tried 720x576 frame size the picture display completely but with blur line in the bottom of video. could anyone please tell me how can i fix this issue? and please tell me what is the best setting for transferring video from vcr to dvd in pal?.

Your setting should be for PAL on capture so that is 780x576.

The other setting is NTSC and that is why you are getting the picture cut off.

The blurring you are seeing is quite normal for capturing from VCR's because of the different display properties of your computer monitor compared to a TV.
If you just normally capture then convert to a DVD you will find that the blurring will not appear because it is at the very outer edges of the picture. This is called the "overscan" area of the TV screen and because of the many different types of TV screen display this area will rarely, if ever, appear.

Your problem is a function of your VCR. Cheap VCRs, with just 2 heads generally give more torn lines at the bottom than expensive ones with 4 or 6 heads. You may be able to reduce the effect by using a time base corrector. It has nothing to do with VS.

As stated, this is always in the overscan area, so is not visible when playing a DVD on a TV set.
