Videostudio 9 SE DVD - shuts down constantly

Post by bransonair@yahoo.com.au »

using Videostudio 9 SE DVD with XP

Unable to access preferences. Each time I click on Prefs video studio shuts down. Get windows message that unfortunately videostudio has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.

Also, is there a quick way to save a project - is there a "save" icon somewhere or do you have to keep going to "file", "Save"?

Couple of things first:

Go to the top of the screen you are viewing and click "Profile." To the best of your ability fill out your computer specs. As it is the probelm seems to be that you have no computer!

Go to this link next, read it and give us some more info to work on:

Finally, really bad idea to use your email address as a user name, just a big ol' invitation for the universe to start spamming you! Contact the site admin to get it changed...fast!

Exactly the same problem

Post by ivos »

I experienced this problem with old HW (P4 2,4GHz, 1GB RAM, MSI motherboard, Radeon 9500) as well as with the new one (in profile).
i.e. after choosing "preferences" or F6 I get the "well known win message"
I am looking forward to see the preferences first time

Hi

There was a problem with VS 9 related to Windows Installer V2 but I believe Win2k.

Not sure if this is the same as your problem but worth a read.

Where to find msi.dll 2.0 for Win XP ?

Post by ivos »

I did not have quick success in finding msi.dll 2.0 for winXP to try your solution, but anyway, I dont think it is the same problem. I do not have any other problem (e.g. with capture) than to open preferences.

I'll ask the obvious  have either of you tried to reinstall?

I understand, but that is not the problem

Post by ivos »

My first post means, that I not only reinstall the SW on one PC, but the SW was even installed on 2 PC's with completely different (old and new) HW with the same result. Current PC is with 2 systems on different partitions (trial and normal) again with the same result.
So it looks already, that the problem is really in SW 8)

Was your software a download or box version? And, ivos, what version are you using?

Hi

Another thing to check¡K¡K¡K¡K

I had problems with VS 9 and running QT version 7.

I had to uninstall QT 7 and reinstall QT 6 from the VS disc.

All seems ok now but at the time it was a bit of a pain.
