Putting clip anywhere into timeline

I want to cut video to a song and need to put a clip at a certain place to match to song. But as soon as I put the clip into the timeline, it connects to the clip before. I can`t put it in the middle of the timeline with no clips to the left.

What I usually do when I'm trying to time a certain clip to come in at a certain time, I drag and drop it into one of the overlay tracks at the appropraite time. That way you've got it marked and know when it's coming in. If you want to make it full screen you can always right click the clip and choose "fit to screen". If not you can just put it back in the video timelinewhen you have your preceeding clips built up.
