If you're following the directions in the MSPro readme.hlp file then it won't work because this file advises entries be made to the ulead32.ini file found in C:\Windows (or WinNT)\.

The use of ulead32.ini for such things (photoshop filters, the advanced mpeg menu etc.) been inoperative for some time now, but Ulead hasn't updated the MSPro7 readme.hlp file to reflect this change.

The *.ini file that DOES work for such things is the copy of MSP.INI found in;

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\MediaStudio Pro\7.0\

The other ulead video products user entries have also been moved to \All Users\, meaning that things like Advanced MPEG menus can also be added to DVD Workshop, DVD MovieFactory etc.

Thanks for reply.

I known about msp.ini and its location.

Since i updated MSP7 to 7.2 applying every adobe ps filter to a clip i obtain
a full black video with sound (same thing in preview window).

The same filters were working in previous MSP7 versions...

Softener by Namesuppressed Design was my preferred one...Back to my wife's nylon stockings ? :D

BTW: You can approximate this soft focus effect right in MSP editor. It does require the use of an overlay track though.

Add the same image or clip to V1 & V2.
Leave the V1 track as the original.
For V2, apply overlay options set to Type of Gray Key, and turn on (check) the "Invert overlay area" option. Click OK
Finish by applying a touch of extra brightness & contrast and gaussian blur to the V2 copy.

What this does is slightly brighten and blur the image, but with the gray key in place, much of the untouched image shows through the image that was diffused by the bluring filter.

I typically apply the brightness/contrast filter prior to the blur.
You can tweak the effect by adjusting the blur, brightness, contrast and the gamma value in the overlay options.

Here's an example result:
Brightness & Contrast set to +10 for both
Gaussian Blur = 5

This time with some extra blur...

Here's an example result:
Brightness & Contrast set to +10 for both
Gaussian Blur = 15

How exactly do you add Photoshop filters then? The directions are somewhat confusing.

By adding this entry;

[PLUG IN]
PLUGINDIR1=(plugin folders path)
PLUGINDIR2=(next plugin folders path)

and so on to

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\MediaStudio Pro\7.0\MSP.INI

Here a short list of working plugs (before 7.2 MSP update):

Kai's Power Tools3
Kai's Power Tools5
Kai's Power Tools6
Softener
Universe
RichardRosenman plugins (for free at http://www.richardrosenman.com/photoshop.htm )

P.S. Just a sample of the Softener plug in MSP
