X3 Hooks

Post by Budda_357 »

It appears that the new X3 has a bug (may be caused by one of their wonderful bloat-ware type hooks) that during start up or even when trying to send an email some other process will cause the X3 installer to run.
It looks like I am going to have to run this program isolated? Does any body know what hook or process that can be blocked or give low priority.

I have X3 installed on 3 machines, all off which are used for email also. I only installed it once on each machine. Certainly no bug here.

It is a strange problem, noticed today another thread with the sane problem but IE causing the launcher to start.
I am trying to isolate the process that will make it to start the install launcher but unfortunately it maxes out the cpu when fails to launch.
Once you successfully get it to cancel it seems to then be timed out.
I also run windows vista side bar on XP and during start up it often will start the installer.
I have only had X3 for a few days, when I get a chance to get 25 hours into the day will try to find a solution.

Seems I had a similar problem when I first installed X3, too.

I disabled CorelIOMonitor.exe and CorelPhotoDownloader.exe and have not had the problems since.

However, I see that both processes belong to Corel MediaOne so I'm not sure if disabling those 2 process is related to the installer not starting or if it's just a coincidence.
