Post by louist5150 »

I recently just bought a Nikon D60 SLR Camera and i am looking for a software program to edit my photos in. I really like the corol photoshop pro but I can't view my Raw photos or edit them. Is there something I am doing wrong or do I have the wrong program for RAW pictures? It aslo won't let me do the same thing in adobe CS3. Can someone help me out I am new to this. Thanks

Unlike other image formats the digital camera raw formats need separate support added for each camera model. This means that the makers of photo editing software need to regularly update their software so that it can handle new camera models.
Adobe released an update that added D60 support on March 14th. Look for the Camera Raw 4.4 update on their web site.
Unfortunately PSP has much less regular updates. The only update released for PSPP X2 came out last November, and had not one single new camera added to its raw support.

Corel does not release updates very often. I have Kodak P880 (now obsolete), and PSPx2 does not support it's RAW file. However PI has supported since version 11..

I know it has been a long time since this was posted, but I just found out about this board. Similar problem with the Sony Alpha 350. E-mailed Corel and they would not say whether they would ever develop a RAW viewer for it. I ended up buying another program which views and edits RAW, and does a very nice job. It complements PSP nicely. After my initial pass at viewing and editing, I save in a lossless format Tiff and finish editing in PSP. While it may seem like a pain, not so, I don't edit a lot of pics and the other program has good automated features for converting RAW to Tiff or JPEG. Don't know if the free RAW program noted above does conversions in an automated way or not.....but I'll check it out tonight too!
