PreRender Menu ?

Ok, I made a dvd without clicking Pre-Render menu. I stick the movie/dvd in a dvd player and everything is great. Comes up and runs.
But when I stick it into a computer to play, A popup box comes up showing the file folders on the dvd.

What does the Pre-render menu box do?
And why does it play on a dvd player, yet not envoke autorun on the computer or whatever?
