Whoa, what a coincidence. I literally just had my credit card out tonight to end my long procrastination about upgrading to VS11.5 and lo and behold....

Glad I checked the forum.... back to the holding pattern. Can't wait to hear the details.

Now that Corel released VS12 in Japan, when do you think we can see it here in the States?

I need the Dual title-track authoring option for dual language DVDs. I'd like to have more than two, but I'll settle for two.

As a programmer and beta tester of long standing for several kinds of software, I know the general process quite well, although I have no knowledge of Corel's doings. However, I can make an educated guess as to what may be happening.

It looks like they have done advanced alpha testing in-house and possibly some beta testing as well, with employees not on the development team. This means they selected Japan for pre-release (effectively public beta) in mid-March. My guess is that this will take three months. From then on, the time necessary for general release will depend on the problems encountered and the time necessary to sort them out.

If my guesswork is anything like correct (and it may not be) then the general release cannot be before mid-July and may be a lot later. Consider also the wisdom of releasing at a time when the N. hemisphere is on vacation. I certainly am not expecting it this week or even next, so those who have their knickers in a twist with impatience would perhaps be better untwisting them for the time being.

Sorry if my pragmatic guess is not what you want to hear but I know what it is like for the process of testing and releasing software (one scientific software I developed took two years from initial beta to release!).

Well I for one hope you are wrong on this one. It has now been over a year since VS11 came out. What I am hoping is that the additional delay is due to perhaps VS12 having a "professional" version as has been suggested in the forums. Combining features from MediaStudio, with the usability of VS would be a sweet combination.

Perhaps the release of VS will be pegged to the next release of Pinnacle .. it seemed to go roughly that way last two releases.

No one here works for Corel, we are all Users of their software like yourself.
We eagerly check the Corel Website each week looking for news and information concerning the release of products, patches and upgrades.

Rather VS13 is in full works and they are just planning the contents for VS12 update.

I have been suspicious that Corel may be waiting for Pinnacle to announce their Version 12 product. Well that cat is now out of the bag, I received a pre-order solicitation from Pinnacle for Studio Version 12.

So I am hoping this pushes Corel to followup with a pre-order deal for VS12...

Has there been any word on what new features will be included in this release 12? I mean anything other than what was listed on the Japanese web site?
