Vista and PSP X2 - CDROM Errors

Post by BetaTest »

With X2, I noticed a nasty error with Vista. After installing it - every time I eject a CDROM or open the CDROM drive - I immediately get an error at some hex address. It's done this on a Dell inspiron laptop, a Dell dimension 3000, and a Lenovo ThinkCentre all with Vista Home or Ultimate and 2+ gigs of memory. As soon as I uninstall PSP X2, errors are gone. Download a fresh trial ... comes right back. Is there a fix for this? I saw someone else with a licensed copy and the patch and it was doing the same thing in Vista. My PSP version 8 doesn't do this. I wanted to upgrade because a lot of the new plugins don't work with 8.

The Corel newsgroups had this post about an error message many have been getting during the ejection of removable media (memory cards, flash drives, CD's, DVD's, etc) I've noticed this problem also. It's been a minor inconvenience for me. Nothing bad happens but you get the message. It looks like Corel acknowledges the problem and is looking for a way to fix it. It seems to be connected with their latest fix for the Organizer problems.

I just got the response from the technical team about
coreliomonitor.exe. It is a program used to fix the organizer issue in
Paint Shop Pro X2. They do not suggest disabling it but customers
experiencing problems with the ejection of removable media may do so.

How do I turn-off CorelIOMonitor.exe?
1. Open the MSCONFIG utility.
XP: Start > run > type "msconfig" > OK
Vista: Start > type "msconfig" > Enter

2. Go to the Startup tab then uncheck the tick box beside
CorelIOMonitor.exe
3. Select Apply then restart your computer.

NOTE: Remember that turning this program off may affect the Organizer
feature.

If you are having problem with the organizer and only wants to turn-on
the coreliomonitor.exe temporarily, you may do the following:

* Go to C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 then
double click "CorelIOMonitor.exe" before you start the main Paint Shop
Pro application.

* To close the program again, hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc simultaneously, go to
the Processes tab, right-click the sub-application
(coreliomonitor.exe) then choose "End Process." You will be asked if
you are sure, press OK.

In order to have a permanent fix with this issue, I would like to
request some additional information about the error. Can you please
tell me what you did from the moment you connect the device (please
specify what device) to the time the error showed up? Is the autoplay
feature on?/off? Other information that may be relevant? Also, please
send me your system details so that we can recreate the scenario.

---

May I kindly invite all those who have problems with this monitor bug
send all available information to Corel? For it seems to be quite
problematic from them to understand what it is all about...

Kind regards,

Ananda

A lot of new plugins were written with the new version of the Adobe Plugin SDK, and won't work with anything except Photoshop 6 or later. There is no support for these newer plugins in PSP of any version. Only the older style plugins work in any version of PSP... if it doesn't work in PSP 8, it almost certainly won't work in PSPP X2.
