Hello to everybody.
I have produced a DVD containing a menu allowing the selection
of 6 chapters. Each chapter starts with a black color clip ( 4 seconds) on
which a title is superimposed, followed by a "turn page" transition and
then the chapter video itself (mpeg2). The chapters have been marked on
the time line and appears on the selected menu template.
The option share->create disc produce the DVD without problems.
Studio DVD preview works as spected and also on Windows Media player
the jumping to the chapter is performed correctly, but when my DVD player
shows the selection menu on TV and a chapter is selected, before the title
of the chapter shows on the TV screen, an strange distorted incompleted image
appears during a very short time before the chapter starts to play.
How could I get rid of such problem?
Thanks in advance.
TV image problem when transition from menu to video clip

Since you are editing mpegs you may be experiencing something similar to this: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... highlight=

I'm living in Spain and this is the reason
for taking to long to replay to you answer.
Thanks Jeff again for your help. I will investigate
this afternoon the comments included on the
referenced post. I also have a video camera
producing mpeg2 (704x576) clips (SDR-S150)
and for this reason I have started to use VideoStudio.
SmartRender is a must, but I'm a bit confused at
the way the problem appears. My DVD can be played
either instantely after inserting the disk on the player
( no distortion is noticed, everything shows correctly)
or calling the menu and in this case the very short distortion
appears before the chapter title shows on the TV
screen. Strange!!!

Hi Chicho
By using chapter points I assume you are burning the dvd from the project, from the *.VSP
(Maybe rendering in the burner stage is causing some corruption of the file.)
Is this correct or are you doing Share Create Disc from an empty timeline.?
I would rendered the project to a single mpeg file. Share Create Video File
I would use the mpeg in a new project , adding the file in the Share Create Disc stage.
I would have to set the chapter points here rather than in the edited project.
Making a note of the location on the timeline of the chapter points, makes setting the points easy.

Hi Jeff and Trevor.
I've read Jeff recommended post and also I've produced
an DVD following Trevor recomendations.
1. I don't think that in my case smart-render is causing
my problems, I still belive that my problems
have something to do with the way VStudio handles
transitions from menu to beggining of chapters. But, to
be honest I will produce an DVD with smart render off
and I will see if the problem disappears.
2. I just have finished an DVD in which I've used the same project
but with a different name and nothing on the time line. In this
way the chapter points remain in the same location and no need
to note them. I've produced the big mpeg2 file and later used it
in the time line. Call Share-> Create disk. Produce the same
DVD and run to the DVD player to see the result. Failure.
The same problem shows on TV.
Thanks again for your time.

The idea of creating a ¡¥big¡¦ video file was to avoid rendering the Mpeg in the burner module.
Rendering the Main file or Project has caused a lot of problems for many users.
If you Start a new project, It is empty, NO chapter points. Nothing in the timeline.
Share Create Disc
Add Video file (using your ¡¥Big¡¦ Mpeg 2)
You now create your menu, including adding chapter points.
When you press ¡¥Burn¡¦ you should see the blue progress bar indicating ¡¥Create Menu¡¦
If you see ¡¥Create Title¡¦ Then VS is rendering the Big Mpeg2 file.
This is wrong.
Either your settings/properties are wrong or the Big mpeg2 file is greater than 4.3 GB.
Until you try this method we cannot say that it will be successful.
But you are avoiding rendering the main file in the burner module, which has been the cause of many problems!
Hi Trevor.
I've followed exactly your recommended steps to produce
the DVD. No "create title" message appears. DVD is burned
and DVD player shows correctly the video, but when you
jump to the menu and select a chapter, the distortion appears
before the chapter is presented. The distortion, very short, is similar
to the thumbnail image(distorted) of the chapter menu you
just selected.
