new user naming files
I just started using video 8 today. I can't seem to work out how to give my video capture a name during the capture process. I'm used to using Pinnacle which automatically asks you to name your capture. I don't like being presented with all my clips in the library with lots of letters and numbers. I would like to have the split capture in a file so that I can add the file (at a later date) from which to choose my clips.

naming files on capture
Thanks John....... I can stop searching for a solution now and just rname the captured video after it is saved on the hard disk.
Hi mhindmarch.
The original 'captured' video is identified with the date (year-month-day) and the order of being captured that day. Since all subsequent "edited" files will have names that I give them, that original stands out as the unchangeable captured material. No matter how you rename it or edit it, that original file will NOT be changed, cut, divided, etc. You'll have to Create (new) Video file if you want it to include your editing changes. Meanwhile the editing changes are represented by your tiny project file (.VSP), and when you open any project file, the video that appears in the timeline will appear to have been cut, etc., but only because the project file says so. I guess this way we avoid having many versions of huge video files that would eat up space. Just thinking out loud -- I know you know this.
good luck.
