VS- 11 Plus Problem with Capwiz
I use ADS dvd express and it is not reconized by VS- 11 have no idea why. I have dvd movie factory 3.5,5 plus Video studio 8 and some other stuff I do have the capwiz program lasted version and it works fine I have used the captured video files in each program with out a problem including VS 11 plus. did editing of frames and all the othe stuff with out problems but I have to use capwiz no matter wich program I am using. I did fix it so it would work with movie factory after the capture but thats a bout it. I do two different drives but all of the programs like to use the windows documents no matter what. so I wind up doing some serious hours cleaning after doing about 4 or 5 DVD movies. and I am still putting my stuff on the second hard drive. All of these programs work well for me but I do it just for fun. like the name says I am retired.

You can alter the title by using the
The purpose of providing a meaningful title is this.
There are a number of members on the forum who try and help troubleshoot problems - myself included. In the early days of the user forum it was not too difficult to be able to read all of the posts submitted since the last time I (or one of the other troubleshooters) had logged on.
On the Forum Home page at the top right is a link
view posts since last visit In the forums early days this would perhaps range between 10-30 posts. Today however the board has grown in popularity and more products are now catered for including the former Intervideo products before the merger with Ulead.
There have been days when I have logged on to find over 70 new posts since my last visit. It is of course impossible to read each and every one of them and so it is necessary to look at the titles to pick out posts where I feel I am able to offer some worthwhile input.
if you are viewing perhaps the VideoStudio forum and a post is entitled
"VideoStudio" - it doesn't really give you a clue, similarly in the PhotoImpact forum a post entitled [PhotoImpact] is equally as meaningless.
Giving a post a suitable title is a means of helping us to help you.

Adstech, which makes your capture device, is one of a variety of companies that make hardware which will only work properly with the software they provide, in this case CapWiz. The latter program does an extremely good job of capturing, as you have already found.
Some hardware companies also provide other brand software, but they have tweaked it themselves so that it can work with their hardware. But they won't share the trade secrets with software manufacturers like Corel/Ulead so that these can make sure that future editions of their software automatically works with the hardware...

And don't let the fact that you cannot capture direct from the device with VS worry you. Many of us here use a wide variety of programs during any one video editing project. I, for instance, will use WinDV to capture from my mini DV camera (though I can also use VS), VS for editing it, SonicFire Pro for background music, Nero Wave Editor for my own voiceovers, Cool 3D Production Studio or Xara 3D for my fancy titles, CanopusFX or Adorage for some of my transitions, and Movie Factory or DVD Workshop for authoring, then Nero for burning... And some people might use even more for other special effects.
The point is to recognise that some programs do different things better than other programs, and thus you use those combinations of programs which give you the desired result in any one project...

Thanks.

It's a VHS to DVD converter.
I don't know why you want VS 11 to recognise it.
Use the software that came with the converter to capture then use VS11+ to edit.
The program says it can use my capture device and it does not. not a problem I understand. Thank you very much.

As you haven't altered the title I have done so for you.sjj1805 wrote:Please Read This Before posting wrote:SUBJECT: Please use a subject that describes your exact problem instead of making us guess what's in your post.
Whether or not it should work with VideoStudio clearly in your case it is not. You now have two choices
Choice #1
Do like Ken does and capture with your other software that does work to capture. I tend to do my capturing with MediaStudio Pro as I prefer its interface to other programs I have that can capture. However the program I use to edit will vary according to the job in hand. Similarly I also use a variety of programs according to an individual projects needs
Audacity for sound editing. Cool 3D Production Studio for Titles.
I have even used Windows Movie Maker for end credits because scrolling credits can be achieved easily and quickly with it.
PhotoImpact/Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro for image editing.
PhotoImpact for creating purpose built DVD Menus.
Sonic Fire Pro for background music and for the DVD Menus.
VideoStudio / MediaStudio for editing
VideoStudio/MovieFactory or DVD Workshop 2 for Authoring.
MenuEdit/PGCEdit for tweaking the DVD Menus
CopyToDVD for burning.
Choice #2
Persist in trying to get it to work even though you already have a method of capturing the video. Go grey or even greyer, perhaps even bald - to prove a point.
