Hi, I have just purchased Video Studio 11 Plus, I am a total novice when it comes to video editing so would be grateful for any help. One thing i'm stuck on at the moment is the aspect ratio, which one do I chose 4:3 or the 16:9 ratio please can somebody explain what each one does.
Please be gentle.
Many thanks
Grayo

Hi Grayo and welcome!
16:9 is sometimes called widescreen and is becoming the more popular format for TVs.
4:3 is what we have all been used to over the years.
Your project setting on this depends on the source material and the intended viewing device.
For example my camcorder is set to shoot in 4:3 so I have to set VS at 4:3. I can't choose 16:9 because that would stretch the frame out and make my wife look short and fat and we all know that is not a good idea!
Similarly if your source footage is 16:9 you need to keep your project at 16:9 other wise everyone gets stretched!
