Hi,
This problem is now resolved.
I installed the software on my office portable (Toshiba Satellite M90) and the same problem is present. The most likely common culprits to both PCs were the SLD codec pack and the K-Lite codec pack. As I was pressed for time at work, I deleted the SLD pack and used the codec manager in K-lite to inhibt all the K-lite codecs.
When I tried to uninstall the SLD pack, it told me that the iac25_32.ax and 3cdeco.acm were in use by other programs. I found the following command to deregister the iac codec:
regsvr32 - u iac25_32.ax
I ran UVS11 and it worked fine!!
When I got home, I uninstalled the SLD codec pack from my home portable (Acer Aspire 1800), and the UVS11 works fine again!!!
Interestingly the unistall did not report any codecs in use. So that, in itself was not the problem. The iac driver is an Intel audio codec and a bit of internet search shows it has been implicated in some other DVD editng software problems, so that may have been the problem.
What a PITA!! But at least it is all back in action.
The lesson learned here is that if you haven't used your movie editing software for some time, (12 months, to tthe day for me), it is easy to forget just what you have installed over the previous period. However anything that installs codecs has to be primary suspect(s) -- especialy when one program works but its direct competitor does not.
What the last point shows is that some programs use the common codecs on the system (have a look at Windows Media Maker > Tools > Options > Compatibility to see a list that is used by WMM and note that you can inhibt them one at a time if you are having problems.) Other programs either use different codecs or come wtih their own, to ensure they control their own quality or whatever.
Hope all that helps someone else one day.
Bye
Rob.
