Hi
First of all thanks for this great forum, where lot of comments are of help to understand the technology behind HD.
I have installed UVP 11+ on a Pentium Dual Core 1.66Mhz laptop with 2 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD running Windows Vista. Updated it with the all the latest upgrades and patches.
I captured the HD video shot from Sony HDR-HC9 using the Sony provided Picture Motion Viewer application and it produced a set of .m2t files. Each scene was seperated as a single .m2t file.
I was able to import these .m2t files on to the UVP timeline, add transition effects. I chose the Create Vido File option on the Share tab. I chose HD-1080i format as the target format. Both for PC/HDV are crashing the application. Why?
When I chose 720p (PC/HDV) the areas where transitions are applied.. the video appears to be jagged with multiple blurred lines criss crossing the area. Someone was telling me that this is caused due to interlacing problem.
What are the solutions available for me to convert and store this video on my laptop as HD.
Best Regards
Jay

Start a new VS11+ session:
Under File->Preferences | Edit tab -> Resampling Quality = BEST
Setup the Project Settings first "File -> Project Properties or <ALT + ENTER>
Compression Tab First:
Media Type = Mpeg2
Quality = 100% (70% for slower computers and video with little motion in them)
Two Pass Encode = OFF
Video Data Rate = Constant bit Rate (CBR = 25000)
Audio = Mpeg2, 48000, Stereo @ 384kbs
General Tab:
FrameSize = 1440x1080
FrameType = Upper Field First
FrameRate = 29.97(NTSC) / 25(PAL)
Ulead Video Studo Tab:
NonSquare Pixel Rendering = ON
Audio channels: = Stereo
Exit Project Properties, then "File -> Save As" and save this as a HDV template for future use.
Then load your .m2t video files, edit and save the project ( I use another name to preserve the original template file)
To export a HDV video of the edited project you can use a few methods.
If during rendering you have problems then turn off "SmartRendering" which is always accessible under the "Options" Icon in the last step before exporting and saving/rendering the video.
Normally you can just goto "Share -> Create Video file -> Same as project settings"
Or
"Share -> Create Video file -> Mpeg Optimizer -> Accept -> Save

Vidoman, Sorry for the duplicate post. I didnt see it unfortunately and sorry if it caused any confusion. Thanks for the reply though.
Hi etech6355, that worked..!! Thanks a billion.. UVP didnt crash even one time after that.. Rendered a 3 minute full HD video with transitions and few editings.. It worked nicely. Once again, I sincerely thank you for your help.
