I have VS 11 Plus and have installed all the patches and updates. I am working with AVCHD files imported from my Sony HDR - SR7 E Handycam. I can edit them quite well using the Smart Proxy Settings ON.
I want to make a AVCHD file of the project. When I start the rendering I get this message: 'Failed to open the MPEG Optimizer.' I also get the same message when I try to render with other MPEG files. I tried the Optimizer alone and still get the same message! Any help on this one?
What I am trying to do is copy the AVCHD edited project and play it back through the camera using the HDMI plug to my HDTV.
I can make a HD MPEG in of the project and play it from my PC to the HDTV it looks good, but I want the full res played back from my camera.
But the main issue here is the MPEG Optimizer does not work, why?
MPEG Optimizer does not work.

That did not work. Same message: MPEG encoder failed to open.
When I try to write the project to AVCHD file it opens the encoder but the same message as above appears.
Just want to be able to play the AVCHD project from PC or the Cams Hard Disk.
Looks like I have to get a Blue ray player and write them to DVD disk.
Thanks

There's something wrong with your installation, project settings, or other codecs installed on the system that could be conflicting.
I've used this feature many times for AVC/H264, HighDef Mpeg2 Video, and Standard Definition mpeg2 video.
Not sure how you edited the video.
What processor are you using? I've heard of some problems with AMD's posted by some knowledgeable users on the MovieFactory Forum. Still the same avc/h264 codec though. There problems are related to the AMD processors not supporting the SSE2 instruction set. Although I have no way to verify this they seem to have done many tests on various cpu's.

Problem solved
I uninstalled VS and downloaded again and used the patches for fix and powerpack, everything works fine now...
