PhotoImpact 10 Upgrade Installation?

Post by Rilla927 »

Hello everyone,

I dug out my PI10 Upgrade disc but I'm not sure if I have to have a previous installation already installed on my computer. I also have my PIXL disc just in case.

Thank you kindly,

The installer is going to ask you for the location of your qualifying products setup.exe file because it can't find it on your PC. Put the XL installation disk into your disk drive and point the installer to it.

I'm not quite sure when Ulead changed this approach. I think it still was the case with PI 10. Later versions need the serial number of your qualifying program.

In either case, you do not have to have the older program installed on your PC.

Okay, sounds good. I will give it a whirl and let you know how it goes.

Thank you :D

EDIT:

It installed fine and it never asked for another installation.

Heinz,

I was going to ask the same question. I only have PhotoImpact 10 Upgrade (the CD version) though, and just bought a new computer with Windows Vista. I wanted to purchase the new PhotoImpact X3 Upgrade. Will this same upgrade process of inserting my PI 10 Upgrade CD work (or serial number?) when installing the PI X3 upgrade?

I really wouldn't want to have to try installing PI 10 on Vista... I always thought we needed to have the old program installed on the hard disk when upgrading though, which is of course not very convenient when we have a new computer with an incompatible operating system.

I'll be very grateful for your confirmation. I miss my PhotoImpact! :)

No, the PI X3 installer will prompt you to insert your PI serial number when installing. No need to install PI 10 first or have the installation disk handy.

All PI 10 and later versions qualify for the upgrade.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I'm so relieved to know there's a working version of PhotoImpact for Vista now. I tried using other graphic editing programs in the meantime, but nothing even comes close to PhotoImpact :)
