HAVING PROBLEMS WITH RECEIVING UFO MAINLY HELP
I am relatively new to pi but taking their classes (psst billie has guts for taking me on) but i have problems receiving and sending via messenger mainly ufo files, and sometimes others. The messenger says its not their problem. And windows not their. So maybe its a pi problem. I hear talk of a patch for pi 12 but can't find the link on their page. The message i usually get is unable to find or typeface hollywood hills not found. Most codes are 800:150:2096 and 800:93:5118... Sometimes if i click the 3-4 times on the one that says typeface not found, it will then finally open. Can anyone help with this? ......goldenstar

There are a couple of problems sending images of any format by email.
UFO BMP GIF JPG and so on
1. File size.
Most email service providers (if not all) impose file size and mailbox size limits. You have to reduce the file size by either resizing or using a lower quality such as GIF or JPG.
2. File Format.
Some email services block certain file types due to the risk of malicious programs being hidden inside an apparently innocent attachment.
For example Microsoft Outlook 2007 will not permit a file with an EXE extension to be sent.
Th work round for 2 and sometimes also for 1 is to use a compression program such as Winzip.

For starters, THERE IS NO NEED TO SHOUT!
You may not be aware of it and have been forgiven
but using all caps is considered shouting in net etiquette and is best avoided unless, of course, you do want to shout.
The problem you are having is entirely yours. Ufo format is only used in PI. Ufo stands for Ulead for Object format and cannot be read or opened by any other program. Except, of course, if it is a graphics program and lists ufo as one of the supported formats.
As long as it is in ufo format, any text is still that, text. Once you save it as jpeg, bmp or any other image format, all objects are going to be merged and the error about typefaces will not happen again because there is no typeface.

no i was receiving them, then it started acting up approx 3 weeks ago. now i might get one and not be able to open two of them and then one again. i have never had problems before. when i receive the pics, the pi opens to view it. now i just get every so often those messages. and sometimes i don't. and i don't do anything to change or delete a program inbetween the sending and receiving. goldenstar
