How do I uninstall Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3.5 SE?

I tried MS Add/Remove programs. I get a cryptic error message such as:
-----------------------------------
>SetupDLL\ SetupDLL.cpp(439)
paPP:Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.5 Suite Deluxe
PVENDOR: Ulead Systems
PGUID: C7D89BBE-d4b3-49e8-b185-7966b5345866
$7.1.100.1248
@Windows Me (73010104) IE 6.0.2800.1106
OK
------------------------------------------

I click OK, then I get another message :
------------------------------------------------
- Close any running programs
- Empty your temporary folder
- - Check your Internet connection
-----------------------------------------------------

Doing the above does not fix anything. I get the same error messages again.

Note that MS Add/Remove programs currently works perfectly to uninstall other programs.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Merlin

It sounds like some file got corrupted. Try doing a re-install and then an uninstall.

I tried to re-install, but no cigar.

When I try to install it, I get a message like:" Installer has detected that a version of Movie Factory is already installed. Please uninstall it first and run Setup again". So I am back to square one!

The following was submitted on another thread earlier this month by rrobbins611. It refers to removing 4.0 but may help with your 3.5.

==================
I sent an e-mail to tech support an received the following recommendation to completely remove MovieFatory 4.0 and reinstall:

Perform a Clean Remove of the program from your system. You may or may not find all entries in the list.

1. Launch Windows Explorer and go to
"Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders".
2. Please purge/delete all the files in these folders:
"C:\Windows\Temp"
“C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp” (for WinXP and 2000)
"My Documents\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\4.0" (Working Folder)
3. Go to "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems"
4. Delete the folder for MovieFactory 4.0
5. Delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems". If a file says it cannot be deleted, open the Task Manager and end the process named "ulcdrsvr.exe" then delete the folder again.
6. Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information"
7. Delete the folder "{448AB2CB-C94A-47DE-80B8-9D7824DEFA57}"
8. Go to Start-->Run
9. type "regedit"
10. Go to
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory"

and

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead DMF"

11. Delete the folder "4.0" for both locations.
12. Go to
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory"

and

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead DMF"

13. Delete the folder "4.0" for both locations.
14.Close "Regedit"
15.Restart Windows
16.Reinstall MovieFactory 4

Thanks. It worked, even though I did not find the folder mentioned in step 7, so did not delete anything in step 7. Obviously step 7 folder name only applies to MovieFactory 4.0, not to 3.5.
Thanks for the help to all.

FredJ,

I am guessing that the folder name at step 7 which is appropriate to your version is the same as the PGUID mentioned in your original post. The layout of the data seems the same.

JCC,

You are correct. There is actually a file in folder “C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information" named “C7D89BBE-d4b3-49e8-b185-7966b5345866”, i.e the same as I was getting in the initial error message.

Thanks, mate!

Those folders canb e tricky, but there's a trick to finding the right one.

GO into one of the folders and run the setup.ini (or Setup Confirguation settings) file. On the second or third line, it should tell you which program it's related too.

You are right. Here is what setup.ini says for this file (which shows that it was the correct one for DMF 3.5):
