Video Filter

Post by vman1949 »

I am using VS 11+ in trial mode to evaluate the product. I used a photo and applied the 'bubbles' video filter to it and it looked great, with the bubbles moving across the photo. However, when I apply the same filter to a video clip, the bubbles appear, but they are not moving, just static. I was wondering if this is what happens, or if I have missed something.
Thanks
Trevor Andrew

Hi

The speed of the video filter appears to be related to the length of the clip it is applied to.

How long is the image clip?
How long is the video clip?

Use the scissors to cut the video into shorter segmants, the effect should speed up.

The image is 6 seconds the clip 1 minute. So is this a software a limitation or a limitation of my computer?
I shortened the clip to 10 seconds and the bubbles move but now the audio is crappy and clip is jerky. Can't win.

Firstly don't go by what you see on the preview screen.
Render out a short sample video to see the finished effect.
Secondly remember that the bubble filter is customizable.

I knew the filter is customizable and was using less values than the ones you showed in your screen capture. The tip about rendering made my day! It is tricky to synchronize the filter with the jerky video in the preview screen.
Thanks

Even in the preview screen it shouldn't be jerky. What kind of clips are you dealing with? What are your project settings?

Clip is a section of 12 minute video captured from analog camcorder set at
DVD NTSC AC3HQ template. The clip itself is 1.5 minutes long. Project properties are 24 bits 720x480 29.9 fps Upper field first (DVD-NTSC) 4:3
Hope this helps.

Right click on a clip and post all the properties.

Go to File>Project Properties and post all the properties.
