Please read and comply with the PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING thread. Then tell us EXACTLY what you are doing, where your video source is, the VS settings/properties, the MPEG-2 settings, the project size etc. We cannot guess what you are doing.

Did you update v11? One of the patches addressed the problem of analog capture.

Devil & Jeff,

I am unable to install the upgrade of Ulead VideoStudio 11.
I still have the same message "Ulead is not on your machine!"

I have uninstalled cleanly and wanted to reinstall everything, but the problem is still kà and always the same error message when I try to install the patch ...

What can I do?

When you say you upgraded to VS11 do you mean you bought and paid for VS11 or have you downloaded the 30 day free trial?

There is, in any case, a known bug in VS11/11+ where you cannot capture from a Digital 8 camera being used either as a passthrough device or when it is playing back an analogue 8mm or Hi8 tape. (I also have a Sony Digital 8 DCR TRV-480E.) Corel changed the capture plug-in for this version, and so the plug-in which worked with all previous versions when using a Digital 8 is no longer there. This was because the older plug-in would no longer work with Vista (regardless of the users who still use XP).

There was an update patch dated 6 November 2007 which corrected at least the passthrough problem (i.e you can now connect another analogue device to your Sony, say a VCR or analogue camera, and transmit the video via the Digital 8's firewire connection to your computer).

However, sadly, it did not correct the problem when playing an analogue 8mm or Hi 8 tape in your camera directly to send it via firewire to your computer. You can, however, continue to use other capture programs and they work. Then you open the capture DV in VS for editing and conversion. I for instance use a small freeware program called WinDV which you can get from windv.mourek.cz

However, the November patch will not work with a trial version of VS.
