UVS 11+ customization problem

Post by seven »

I'm not being able to figure how to customize dimensions, bit rate etc. to save movies in wmv format.. it was very easy to do so in earlier versions but with 11+ it seems that option is not there.. what's going on?

Be patient. Some people are at work, others are asleep, depending on where in the world they are.

It's not any different with VS11 than with VS10 or 9 for that matter. When you go to Share>Create Video File, you have the options to start with of WMV and several templates to choose from:

Then from the Save As File Type, you can select WMV, and press the Options button for further Customization.

From the Video Save Options window go to the Profile Tab, and click on the Down arrow for Profiles and you get numerous choices:

Clicking the Customize button on the Profile tab you then get these choices. You click Edit or New, or Copy to modify one of these templates.

For Example pressing Edit, you then are presented with the following:

You can customize the bitrates, codecs, frame sizes, audio format, ect. You will need to experiment with these settings to get the best possible quality VS file sizes for your project.

If you do not have these settings, you need to go to Microsoft's website and download the Windows Media Encoder 9.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I had this in UVS 8 & 10+ but I do not have this available on UVS 11+:
Image
I only have about 10 non-customizable formats in the menu and all to convert UVM version 8.. what's up with that?[/img]

I think this is a problem related to VISTA cause now that I also installed UVS 10+ it`s save optionslooking just the same.

Going by your screenshots I think you need to install the "Windows Media Encoder 9 Series".
The customize button isn't there probably because you don't have the 9 series encoder installed.

On your XP machines also install the Encoder 9 Series, I didn't see it listed.

from MS site Windows XP users: Windows Media Player 9 Series is no longer available for Windows XP. Download Windows Media Player 11.

I highly doubt if it's not avail for Xp it'd be avail for Vista and also I don'thaveindows media 8 installed either but I still see windows media 8 formats listed there so don't think that'swhatthe problem is.

Hi,
I know your running Vista.
That's why I suggested MovieMaker 6 which works without the encoder 9 series installed.

I posted "Windows Media Encoder 9 Series"
Not Windows Media Player.
"Windows Media Encoder 9 Series" is also distributed with VS11+ CD as extras.
Or, may be the 2nd extra content download.
Either way, you need to install it. It's a small download.

Ok I went in the ulead folder in program files and right clicked on the .exe file and selected "run as administrator".. that seemed to have solved the problem but now do I have to do this everytime ie. finding the file in ulead folder and run as administrator or is there any other way of resolving this issue?
