Which is better (Movie Factory 6+ or Video Studio 11+)
I want to be able to render HDV from my HD camcorder and burn the HD content to a regular DVD in HD so that it will play on my PS3. Will both do this? I have both trial versions downloaded, but being a newbe, I¡¦m not sure what to go with. I basically will go with the one that has the best video output SD and HD. I did buy Pinnacle Studio 11+ and absolutely hate it. I get lock ups and I was not happy with SD video output. Thanks for your help!

I don't use HD so cannot answer that aspect.
However I can point out the major difference between the two programs.
If you just want to grab whatever is on your camcorder and put it onto a DVD disc to play as is in your standalone DVD player then you need MovieFactory.

If you want to cut out unwanted portions of the video, re-arrange things because they were not filmed in the correct sequence, add bits in - say throw in a slide show midway through a video presentation, Add some fancy titles and end credits, mix in a bit of background music. If you want to do all that then you need VideoStudio. To edit or not to edit that is the question.

Help w/ burning 4:3 to 16:9 in Video Studio 11+ trial ver.
Dear Site Amin,
I¡¦m trying to write this per your specs. I have search the forum on this with no luck. Yesterday I did a quick test with two intro clips from Transformers and then my DV video shot in 4:3. Well when I created the disk it all stayed at 16:9. Today I started from scratch and I cannot seem to get the 4:3 to go to 16:9. The two intro scenes from Transformers are @ 16:9, but as soon as it gets to the other video it goes back to 4:3 during play back. I have burnt about 4 test DVD so far with out any luck. Am I missing something? I have everything set to 16:9 that I can think of. Since you do not burn in HD, you may be able to help me with this since your video would be in 4:3. I guess I could have captured it in 16:9, but I do not have that camcorder anymore, just a HD camcorder. I¡¦m just puzzled how I did it yesterday. Since I was able to do it, there has to be a way. Any help is appreciated. I¡¦m going to uninstall it and reinstall it to see if I can do it again. I may have changed something by mistake.

Got it!
Got it, that worked! Not sure what I did yesturday to get it, but Im pretty sure I didn't go through those steps. Thanks again!
Did some more tests.
For HDV to SD (DVD) conversions I felt MF6+ did a better job.
For HDV to HDV or other High Definition formats both programs are pretty much the same.
VS11+ is geared for editing.
MF6+ can edit HDV but not as complex as VS11+.
VS11+ can have the same HDV to SD (DVD) quality as MF6+.
You just have to know how to use VS11+ to get the exact same results. Which is perform your encodes from the burning module.
Both programs have pro's & con's.
Most persons want to perform alot of editing so VS11+ would be the better choice. VS11+ burning module is almost exactly the same as MF6+.

HD power Pack will not install (trial ver)??
heinz-oz,heinz-oz wrote:Obviously not. I don't do HD yet. Why don't you download the trial version for both and try for yourself?
I did download the trial version of VideoStudio 11+, but when I try to down load the free HD powe pack to test this it says that the "Installer does not see VS installed".
If anybody has a way around this willout buying it that would be great. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I know that I can do what I need.
Thanks,
Again!
