Hi
I am new to ULEAD. I have my clip marked in and out and want to bring it on to the timeline but i dont want to take the audio with it, how do i do that.
Also does Ulead support 2 channels. If I place a track on the timeline that has music on one channel and effects on an other can i split it.
Cheers
Rob

Welcome to the forums,
To mute the audio, look at the Video tab, and just to the right of the Clip Volume Spin box (it should say 100) is a speaker icon. Clicking on it mutes the audio.
I don't think VS can do exactly as you want, by splitting the audio channels. It does however allow you to split the audio from the video, and to duplicate the right or left audio channel.
The full version of VS11 + also supports Dolby 5.1 surround..

The audio is mixed with the video, so muting will mute all the audio. If the audio for the camera and hand-held microphone are on separate channels, try using the Surround Sound Mixer to mute what audio you do not want. You will need to bring the entire audio to the time-line.
What it seems you're doing is working with the video clip in the Library, which some things can be done there. However most of your editing should be done on the time-line.
Once you have your video on the time-line go to the Audio Step (tabbed buttons across the top), then along the top of the time-line to the left there 3 icons, Storyboard, Time-Line and Audio Views. Press the Audio View icon. This will open up the Surround Sound Mixer, and other options, such as duplicating a channel.
Now to actually do what you're looking to do with the audio, you may need to use a special program designed for audio. There are several available, some freeware, and some not. Those that do very detailed work with audio, probably are not going to be free. Several of us use AUDACITY, a free open source utility for recording and editing sounds. It is a powerful audio editing application, for being freeware.
What is the source of your video clips, home movies? If so is the audio recorded using Dolby Digital? How is the audio maintained in 2 separate channels in your video clip? Have you done any editing to it prior to bringing it into VS? If so what program did you use?

Hi Robert
Are you saying that you wish to mute the left or right sound channels.
Not sure if this will work, but give it a go.
Start a new project.
When viewing your clip from the timeline, switch to Audio View as vidoman's instructions.
Select the first frame by clicking the ¡¥Home¡¦ button, adjacent to start button.
Click the word ¡¥Project¡¦ adjacent to start button.
Now move the ¡¥blue circle¡¦ in the centre of the Surround Sound Mixer to one side, until the tool tip shows 1.00.0.00
Play the clip , only one sound channel should play, is this the required channel.
NO?
You can reset the volume by right clicking the clip and selecting¡K..
Repeat the process, dragging the ¡¥blue circle¡¦ the other way.
Once you have the sound you want
Share Create Video File-Same as First Video Clip
This new file will have one Audio Channel muted.
To copy one channel to the other, in Auto View switch to Attributes tab.
Duplicate audio channel.
Again not sure if this is the options your after.
